Canyon, otherwise known as "Canyon Dog" is a pretty simple guy.
As long as he gets fed and you scratch him often enough he is happy. Canyon is a pretty fearful guy at times and
is not a big fan of strangers. Oddly enough this does not transfer into aggression, rather if he is scared
he runs and hides behind my legs or around the corner until he has decided danger has passed.
Canyon is a great "boat dog." He is fairly obedient, and is as agile as a cat. He can easily
maneuver himself on the boat in all kinds of weather. Canyon is at his best when outside, and
although he is not a particular fan of being underway for long periods, he does enjoy all the
exciting wilderness areas that are only accessible by boat.
When we are underway it has been a big challenge to get Canyon to use the bathroom on the
deck. We have had to give him an enema on more than one occasion, which really isn't very much
fun! Trango seems to have little trouble with using the deck, but Canyon has never quite
warmed up to the idea. The baby enemas that you can buy in the store are the only solution
we have found for this little problem. It is gross, but necesary, as we have been at sea for
nearly two weeks at a time.
