Breaking News: SEA HEATHER is FOR SALE!!! Yes, after four wonderful years living aboard and sailing over 6000 nautical miles from Kodiak, Alaska to Mexico we have decided to go back to school! We were both accepted into graduate programs on the east coast. Therefore we must sell our wonderful boat. We are proud to say that she is in better condition now than when we purchased her four years ago and she will treat her new owners well.
In September of 2003 we purchased a 1977 DownEaster 38 sailing cutter. Since that fateful month we have sailed our boat, "Sea Heather" thousands of miles throughout West Coast of North America. Along the way we have made many mistakes, and decided to put this website together not only to share our experiences with others, but to provide advice and lessons about all the stuff we have screwed up along the way!
Before we ended up on a sailboat in Alaska, we had a number of adventures. This website may also chronicle our life before Sea Heather, and how our choices and adventures led to our current life, but don't hold your breath.
Saesha used to work for the State of Alaska at the DMV. She recently graduated from the University of Illinois, a city she has visited once, on graduation day!
She is originally from Utah, a fact she often tries to deny, but one that is blaringly obvious because of her blatant "whiteness" and inability to dance.
Sea Heather's two other crew members are the famously incorrigible "Trango the Terrible" and "Canyon", whose favorite activities include peeing on strangers at the beach and trying to kill each other. Trango is a Malemute-border collie mix who looks nothing like a border collie, and more like a starved coyote. Canyon is also a Malemute-border collie mix who looks like a dingo, and acts like one too! Together they make up the "crew" of Sea Heather. They also help make life on board incredibly hairy. Literally! Most Recent Web Site Additions: 10 Oct. 2006 Juneau to California (Windows Local Live archived) - The old current status page. Neat, but buggy. Chickens Gone Wild (don't ask).
Still to come:
